Takayama festival is famous as one of three most beautiful major festivals. Takayama festival is the general term for the spring Sanno festival and the Hachiman festival of autumn.
Spring Sanno Festival is as annual celebration at Hie-jinja shrine, and the people who live in the southern half of downtown Takayama worship at this shrine.
The festival event starts on March 1 which determines the tow order of a stall, and April 14.15 is the main festival. On both days gorgeous traditional performing arts such as a mechanical dolls and parades which is served by 800 people can be enjoyed. |

| The annuual celebration at kita-wakamiya jinja shrine, the Furukawa festival consists of hundreds of loincloth men beating large drums measuring 80 cm diameter. This takes place on 19 April. The main event of this festival is on the following day with hundreds of people parading on nine enormous handmade floats. |
